UEFA Nations League 2018

  • The group stage of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying is now complete, meaning the line-ups for the inaugural UEFA Nations League are confirmed.


    League A


    Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, France, England, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Iceland, Croatia, Netherlands

    • Teams will be split into four groups of three, with the group winners then contesting the UEFA Nations League Finals (semi-finals, third-place match and final) in June 2019 to become the UEFA Nations League winners. One host country will be appointed in December 2018 from among the finalist teams.
    • The four sides that finish bottom of their groups will be relegated to League B for the 2020 edition.
    • The top four-ranked League A teams that do not qualify for UEFA EURO 2020 will enter play-offs in March 2020, with one finals place on offer.


    League B


    Austria, Wales, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine, Republic of Ireland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cunts, Denmark, Czech Republic, Turkey

    • Teams will be split into four groups of three. The four group winners are promoted to League A, with the four sides that finish bottom relegated to League C for the next competition, to be played in 2020.
    • The top four-ranked League B teams that do not qualify for UEFA EURO 2020 will enter play-offs in March 2020, with one finals place on offer.



    League C


    Hungary, Romania, Scotland, Slovenia, Greece, Serbia, Albania, Norway, Montenegro, Israel, Bulgaria, Finland, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania

    • Teams will be split into one group of three and three groups of four. The four group winners are promoted to League B, with the three sides that finish bottom in the groups of four, as well as the worst placed third placed team relegated to League D for the 2020 edition.
    • The top four-ranked League C teams that do not qualify for UEFA EURO 2020 will enter play-offs in March 2020, with one finals place on offer.


    League D


    Azerbaijan, FYR Macedonia, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Latvia, Faroe Islands, Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Liechtenstein, Malta, Andorra, Kosovo, San Marino, Gibraltar


    • Teams will be split into four groups of four, with the four group winners promoted to League C for the 2020 edition.
    • The top four-ranked League D teams that do not qualify for UEFA EURO 2020 will enter play-offs in March 2020, with one finals place on offer.

    Teams in three-sided groups will play on four of the six matchdays.
    *Note that Russia and Ukraine will not be drawn into the same group. The same applies to Armenia and Azerbaijan if the current UEFA Executive Committee decisions still apply when the draw is made.

    Man man man...so ein Schwachsinns-Wettbewerb, der Fußball richtet sich immer mehr selbst hin und ein Ende ist nicht in Sicht :candle:

    Kann ich Dir sagen, weil Freundschaftsspiele durch diesen sinnlosen Wettbewerb größtenteils ersetzt werden sollen (EM-Quali wird um ein halbes Jahr nach hinten verschoben):


    1. Freundschaftsspiele gegen Teams aus anderen Kontinenten werden so gut wie gar nicht mehr stattfinden, finde ich persönlich sehr schade...aber dafür kann man ja mehr Werbegelder generieren.


    2. Freundschaftsspiele hatten früher noch eine andere Bedeutung wie heute...da ging es auch um internationalen Austausch und nicht nur um Gewinnmaximierung für Verbände (wie übrigens auch Europa-Cup-Spiele zwischen Vereinen)...zugegebenermaßen ist das aber auch schon sehr lange her, aber die Nations League trägt dazu bei, dass das ganze sich verschärft.


    3. Im Anschluss an die Gruppenphase der A-Liga findet im Sommer ein weiteres Turnier statt...noch mehr Belastung für alle Spieler, weil jetzt (wohl) jedes Jahr ein Sommerturnier stattfindet...also zu geraden Jahren EM oder WM, zu ungeraden Jahren das Nations League Finalturnier...wobei ich nicht weiß, ob es ohnehin auch zu ungeraden Jahren Freundschaftsspiele unmittelbar nach der Vereins-Saison gab. Sind zwar nur je zwei Spiele für vier Nationen, aber die meisten Nationalspieler sind doch jetzt schon am Anschlag.


    Das sind die Unterschiede...man muss das nicht schlimm finden, mich kotzt es aber an...ich werde mir den Scheiß auf jeden Fall nicht geben...immer mehr und mehr und mehr und mehr...und für was das ganze???? Für einen Wettbewerb, der eine sportliche Relevanz hat wie der UEFA Supercup...na Prost Mahlzeit :prost:

    Aber das Beste habe ich noch vergessen...um den Wettbewerb noch reizvoller zu machen, wird definitv eines dieser Teams bei der EM 2020 dabei sein:

  • Nationalmannschaften und deren internationale Wettbewerbe sind seit geraumer Zeit für mich komplett uninteressant geworden und DAS wird nicht mehr dazu führen, dass sich daran etwas ändern könnte. Nur Köln sonst nix.
